Remote Controller

The remote controller, shown in Figure 2, is used to control the system. It behaves differently depending on the current context.

Global context

The global context is active all the time.

VOL+
button increases the audio by 5% (analogue audio only)
VOL-
button reduces the audio by 5% (analogue audio only)
MUTE
button mutes the audio (analogue audio only)
POWER
button toggles the automatic shutdown mode.

Menu Context

The menu context is for all menus

MENU
button changes the menu to the main menu.
EXIT
button goes back to the previous menu.
SELECT
button enters the highlighted item.
ENTER
button enters the sub menu of the highlighted item.
PLAY
button plays the highlighted item.
LEFT
button moves the highlight left, when a list to the top.
RIGHT
button moves the highlight right, when a list to the bottom.
UP
button moves the highlight up.
DOWN
button moves the highlight down.
CH+
button moves the highlight up one page.
CH-
button moves the highlight down one page.
EJECT
button opens or closes the DVD drive.
DISPLAY
button changes the view of the menu.
YELLOW
button, when the highlight is on an audio track of folder, creates a new audio play list.
REC
button, when the highlight is on an audio track of folder, adds this track or folder to the current audio play list.

Input Context

The input context is active during an input field.

SELECT/ENTER
buttons closes and accepts the input.
EXIT
button closes and cancel the input.
LEFT
button moves one character left.
RIGHT
button moves one character right.
UP/CH+
buttons moves to the beginning of the input.
DOWN/CH-
buttons moves to the end of the input.
0/1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9
buttons enters the respective number.

TV Menu Context

The TV menu context is active when the TV guide is being displayed.

button goes to the main menu.
EXIT
button goes back one menu, to the TV menu.
SELECT
button select plays the current channel. If the program is in the future it schedules the program for recording.
LEFT
button moves the highlight right to the previous program.
RIGHT
button moves the highlight right to the next program.
UP
button moves the highlight up one channel.
DOWN
button moves the highlight down one channel.
CH+
button pages the highlight up.
CH-
button pages the highlight down.
REC
button schedules a program for recording.
DISPLAY
button changes the display style.

TV Context

The TV context is active while watching TV.

MENU/EXIT/STOP/SELECT
buttons stop the TV and returns to the schedule.
PAUSE
button pauses playback
LEFT
button seeks back 60 seconds.
RIGHT
button seeks forwards 60 seconds.
REW
button seeks back 10 seconds.
FFWD
button seeks forwards 10 seconds.
CH+
button changes the channel up.
CH-
button changes the channel down.

buttons enters the respective channel number.

Video Context

The video context is active when watching video including recorded TV programs

button plays the video a double speed, multiple presses doubles the speed again.

button seeks backwards 60 seconds.

button seeks forwards 60 seconds.
LANG
button changes the audio language.
GREEN
button increases the audio synchronization by 50 msec.
YELLOW
button decreases the audio synchronization by 100 msec.
SUBTITLE
button changes the subtitle language.
CH+
button moves the subtitle position up.
CH-
button moves the subtitles position down.
DISPLAY
button shows the current playback position.

DVD Context

The DVD context is active when watching DVDs. This context is only active when xine is being used.

button shows the main menu of the DVD.
GUIDE
button goes to the title menu of the DVD.

buttons select the current menu item.
PLAY
button plays the DVD at normal speed.
PAUSE
button pauses the playback.
